Another photo from Nelson photographer Fred Rosenberg. This photo comes the city’s recent history (2006), showing a local artist working on setting up a show at the Oxygen Art Gallery.

Nathan Bartley during the afternoon, hanging his paintings at Oxygen Art Centre. I was initially reluctant to show him this, not knowing how he feels about showing vulnerability. After having the print for awhile, his response was: “I loved it so much, I sent my copy to my dad.”

I just never know how somebody will react to a photograph of themselves.

Here’s another image by Nelson photographer Fred Rosenberg.

Don’t know the fellow’s name but the first person I showed the photo to did. It’s a small town. His balance is effortless and impeccable, the geometry marked by the frame, like a crystal cluster.

Crossing the street

Fred Rosenberg, the familiar photographer seen around Nelson, has sent in another photo.

I appreciate the friendship and care exhibited in this image and Rosenberg’s description captures the perils of growing old.

Tim and Leif crossing the street in 2006. It was becoming more difficult for Leif to get around on his own. For some, climbing mountains is fraught with challenges; for others, stepping up onto the curb is just as challenging.

Christine and Margaret

Christine Sutherland pushes her mother, Margaret, along Vernon Street in the summer of 2004.

I met them as I walked around looking for photographs. I walked with them for half an hour.

This is what she’d do. She took her mother for a walk. Massage students of Christine’s would come and visit and give Margaret massages.
