Kootenay Co-op adds local kim chi

Kim chi just might be one of the healthiest foods, according to a recent Health magazine article.

It’s spicy, it can be an acquired taste and soon fans of local food will get a chance to acquire that taste with the Kootenay Co-op’s addition of locally made kim chi.

Kim chi, writes Food In The Koots editor Mikale, is a food that you either love or hate but he figures there are more lovers than haters out there.

Misson Jang, from the newly formed Sojin Foods and a familiar face in Nelson, came to me with some of her own kim chi a short while back and it didn’t take me long to see that we had to give this one a try at the Co-op. It was some of the best I have ever eaten. As it turns out, when it is freshly made it has a very mild smell and because she uses only organic ingredients I was doubly convinced.
